Capt. Bob Leonard, owner/operator, of Speck-Tackler Guide Service is a Coast Guard licensed and Texas State licensed fishing guide. Capt. Bob has been fishing the Galveston Bay Complex for more than 40 years.
Speck-Tackler Guide Service is a full service, full time, year round guide service, catering to individuals, groups and corporate clients. All the customer needs to furnish is their drinks, snacks, Texas fishing license and sunscreen. Drinks and snacks may be furnished upon request.
Capt. Bob fishes from a big and roomy, 24' Kenner center console, powered by a 250 HP Evinrude E-Tec outboard. All safety equipment, including life preservers, is furnished.
Capt. Bob specializes in "live croaker fishing" for big trout during the prime months of June - September. Live shrimp and artificial baits are the bait of choice during the other times of the year.
Ask Capt. Bob about his discounted spring trips, March 1st - May 31st. These trips are known as "Family Fun Trips" and target large numbers of Gulf Whiting, Black Drum, Gulf Trout, and line-stripping Bull Reds.
Capt. Bob furnishes all the bait and the finest in fishing tackle. Tackle includes "All Star" rods and "Shimano" reels. At the conclusion of each trip, Capt. Bob cleans and bags the catch while the customers partake of a cold beverage or fine meal at the TopWater Grill located at his homeport of April Fool Point Marina in San Leon, Texas.
The goal of Speck-Tackler Guide Service is customer satisfaction. Capt. Bob rarely fishes, but spends his time catering to and offering one on one instruction in casting, hooking and landing the "Big One".
Over 90% of Capt. Bob's customers are repeat customers that charter year after year. All ages are welcome and Capt. Bob works extremely well with the kids, the novice, and the veteran angler.
